Are your cattle healthy?



Do you own a cow, goat, sheep, hen and cock? How do you make sure your poultry or livestock is healthy? It could be a brainstorming one but don't worry this blog will help you find out if your speechless creatures are healthy. Read the entire article to diagnose if your cattle are healthy.


Signs of a healthy animal

- The animal holds its head up looking around what's happening.

-  If an animal is separated from its herd or its family  it usually shows signs of health issues.

- Its gait or posture  should be regular. 

- Eyes should be bright.

- Observe if the ear movements are quick & respond to the direction of the sound.

- The muzzle should be moist.

- A healthy animal keeps licking its nose.

- Chewing will be complete.

- The coat of cattle will be smooth and shiny.

- The feathers of your poultry will look glossy and feel smooth.

- Rate of breathing will be regular & while resting in the shade chest movement should not be shown.

- Similar to humans, the pulse rate of animals should be normal.

- The dung has to be firm and the urine has to be clear.

- Cattles usually chew for about 6 to 8 hours every day.

- No swelling or pain in the udder when touched.

Behavior and signs of ill-health


- If an animal is separated from its herd it usually shows signs of health issues and does not stand on its feet.

- The animal does not move if it is not comfortable in its location or is suffering from health issues.

- If the steps are irregular it means it is suffering from foot or limb pain.

- Any discharge seen at the corner of the eyes reflects health issues.

- Saliva should not drip from its mouth.

- The cow keeps kicking its belly if it's suffering from stomach pain.

- Difficulty in discharge is a sign of bad health.

- Change in the amount of milk produced is another sign.

- Blood in the milk is a sign of infection.


Apart from everything mentioned above make sure the temperature of your animal is right. If you suspect anything wrong better consult a veterinarian
